Over 100 items will be auctioned off to raise funds for diabetes research

EDMONTON, AB - Our premiere fundraising event, the Hummingbird Gala, has been temporarily postponed, but Alberta Diabetes Foundation still has a number of research investment commitments that we need to fund – and raise funds to do so. We are proceeding with a “ Hummingbird Online Auction ”.

Bidding begins at 12:00 PM MST on Thursday May 7th. Bidding BEGINS TO END at 12:00 PM MST Monday, May 11th . The auction has a staggered close and each item will indicate exactly what time the bidding closes on that item. You will have the opportunity to bid on over 100 items, including home and garden accessories, beautiful jewelry, and an exquisite selection of wine baskets.

Thank you to our friends at Ritchie Bros Auctions for hosting our online auction this weekend. Ritchie Bros Auctions is world known for its heavy equipment and government surplus auctions.

HOW TO BID AND VIEW THE CATALOGUE

Hopefully this guide will help you navigate the world of Ritchie Brothers Auctions (for those who are unfamiliar).

Already signed up for Ritchie Brothers Auctions? Please click this link to be taken directly to the Hummingbird Online Auction.

Our auction will be held on Thursday, May 7th at 12:00 PM MST, and begins to end on Monday, May 11th at 12:00 PM MST, but you can check out our items right now by clicking this link .

1. Check out the Ritchie Brothers Auctions website or download the mobile app (available for all platforms) https://www.rbauction.com/

2. Once on the site, you will find in the top right hand corner a button that says “create an account”. Click this and follow the steps. When you get to the question about Primary Industry choose “other”. Then an activation link will be sent to the email that you used to create the account. Click the link in the email to confirm your information . This will open a new page in your internet browser. Now you will see your name in the top right corner of the screen, and that your bidding limit is $0. Your bidding limit is the maximum amount you are able to spend on items selling at our auction. In order to add credit to your bidding limit you will be required to enter a credit card number . The registration process includes verifying age and person by using credit card only. This card will not be processed at any time by Ritchie Bros Auctions.

All payments will be processed by Alberta Diabetes Foundation following the auction. If you are still having trouble signing in, please click this link for further instructions.

The system will give you a $150,000 credit limit, but don’t feel like you have to spend it all ;)

Once you create an account, click on your bidding limit to view the drop down menu. On here, choose registrations - you need to select "Edmonton Charity Auction" and then you will be able to bid on items in this auction!

3. Now that your account is created, you can find our Hummingbird Online Auction by typing “Hummingbird” into the search bar at the top of the screen or by clicking this link to be taken DIRECTLY to our Hummingbird Online Auction!

This auction is being run as a timed auction therefore you will be able to add items to a watchlist and be notified when someone else is bidding on the items on your watchlist. To add an item to your watchlist click on the orange button that says “add to watchlist”. Please enable the notifications as this is essential when bidding as all updates on items will come through only as emails.

4. The Ritchie Brothers Auctions timed software allows bidders to set a maximum bid for any item thereby ensuring that you are always in the running for the item of your dreams . You will receive an email (or two) to let you know if or when you have been outbid on an item.

5. Please note that the auction is timed and will be ending on May 11th, and all bids are final and all winning bidders will be notified by Alberta Diabetes Foundation (ADF) following auction closing. ADF will work with winning bidders to get items delivered safely, in a timely manner. Items may be located in Edmonton, Calgary or abroad. ADF will ensure delivery within the province at no additional cost. If you have any questions in regards to item delivery, please e-mail info@abdiabetes.com.

Once again, your card will NOT be charged unless you are the winning bidder after the auction ends on May 11th.

6. Bid, bid and bid some more in effort to #stopdiabetes

Thank you for your support of the Alberta Diabetes Foundation. Together, we can #StopDiabetes
